Kirsten Dunst for Miu Miu

I'm not a fashion victim and I never care for fashion. However, I have a crush for bags, shoes and fashion photos. That's some of the reasons why I love the last Miu Miu's campaign starred by Kirsten Dunst. The gorgeous photos have a surreal atmosphere, remembering the red room of David Lynch's "Twin Peaks". The colours and the contrast of a red scenario, the lipstick and laces with her skin are beautiful, pure luxury. (via Notcot)

Hayden Panettiere - Vanity Fair February 2007

I'm a fan of Heroes, however, I don't follow the activities of the actors - gossip and entertainment blogs aren't my cup of tea. The beautiful picture of Hayden Panettiere for Vanity Fair was found while I was searching for pin-ups. She made a series of pictures dressed as a pin-up for an editorial and the cover (I think) of the magazine in February. The image bellow is from Televisionista.

Hayden Panettiere on Vanity Fair

In June she was in the Entertainment Weekly editorial The EW 100: TV portrayed as a 1950's high school girl. The images are very cool too as you can check here, but I prefer the pin-up version.

The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle

Tears come to my eyes when I imagined Orson Welles' voice in The Transformers: The Movie. The man that made history reading The War of the Worlds at the radio, that concept and realized "Citizen Kane", that had a remarkable voice, in such a bad film. That's one example of what money, and bad choice, can do with an actor.

Entertaiment Weekly made a list with the The 25 most shameless paycheck-grabbing roles in history. I don't agree with all the choices of Chris Nashawaty, but it's a good list, I mean, it has good examples, not good movies. He lists some films that happily I never heard about it, like The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle with Robert DeNiro. Poor DeNiro, I was a huge fan of his films... Anyway, those are his choices:

25. Sean Connery in Never Say Never Again
24. Jason Alexander in Dunston Checks In
23. Bill Murray in Garfield
22. Marlon Brando in Superman
21. Matt Dillon in Herbie: Fully Loaded
20. Cuba Gooding Jr. in Chill Factor
19. Elizabeth Taylor in The Flintstones
18. Ben Affleck in Paycheck
17. Buster Keaton in Beach Blanket Bingo
16. Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich in Eragon
15. Christopher Walken in Kangaroo Jack
14. Richard Pryor in Superman III
13. Faye Dunaway in Supergirl
12. William Hurt in Lost in Space
11. Laurence Olivier in Clash of the Titans
10. Demi Moore in Striptease
9. Michael Caine in Jaws: The Revenge
8. Judi Dench in The Chronicles of Riddick
7. Orson Welles in Transformers: The Movie
6. Peter O'Toole in Club Paradise
5. Dennis Hopper in Super Mario Bros.
4. Tony Curtis in The Bad News Bears Go to Japan
3. Sir Ben Kingsley in BloodRayne
2. Richard Burton in Exorcist II: The Heretic
1. Robert De Niro in The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle

Eragon

I must say Sean Connery, Ben Affleck and Sir Ben Kingsley have been doing very bad choices for films in last years, and I don't think that Demi Moore is so good. Well, she's good, but not a so good actress, that's why I wouldn't put her on that list. John Campea, from The Movie Blog made a list too based on that one, however he also forgot to include Jeremy Irons in Dungeons & Dragons and Halle Berry in Catwoman.

The Cat and The Canary

The first time I heard the expression "Scream queen" was in the documentary about horror films history, 100 Years of Horror, hosted by Christopher Lee, which, by the way, I highly recommend. But what is a scream queen? It is an actress who has become associated with horror films, either through an appearance in a notable entry in the genre, as a frequent victim, or through constant appearances as the female protagonist. I also like to define them as "gorgeous women that are usually screaming in the films".

Now that you what it is, take a look at the fabulous Universal Scream Queens. It has a great list of actresses with many pictures and posters. Other option is search the actresses by film "categories": Dracula movies, Frankenteins series, The Mummy series, Werewolves, Phantoms, Ghouls & Ghosts, Mysteries and Mayhem, Mad Doctors, Sci-fi and others. Kelsey Grammer at Actors in Character

An excellent photo essay at TIME: Actors in Character. Photographer Howard Schatz asks an array of character actors to do what they do the best. Check the results with the eight actors: Chevy Chase, Chevy Chase, Kelsey Grammer, James Earl Jones, James Earl Jones, Danny Glover, Rosemary Harris and Christopher Lloyd. I chose the pictures of Kelsey Grammer playing the three characters:

1. You are a CFO under indictment for looting your company's pension plan, with your high-priced lawyer at your side, hearing "not guilty".
2. ...a CPA at a strip joint.
3. ...a doting grandfather suddenly discovering that your four-year-old granddaughter is no longer on the park swing where you saw her just moments ago.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Shobarys Spaghetti Westerns is an excellent reference site to spaghetti westerns' fans. News, reviews, DVDs info, index of actors, mp3s of soundtracks, posters, pictures and more. trailers. I'm not an expert in that issue, so I can't affirm that the site's lists are complete, but I can say that it's amusing if you like cinema. (via filmtagebuch)

After the Alice in Wonderland Vogue came back with a new essay of fashion inspired in a children's book: The Wizard of Oz. Starred by Keira Knightley and shot by Annie Leibovitz, the glamorous essay was directly inspired in the film. More pictures can be found at Keira Pictures. (via Waxy)

Les Filles de l'enfer - Scream Queen - Vamps of the hell. A homage site to the vamps, usually a femme fatale, what means a bad, beautiful and very sexy woman; to the scream queens, the actresses that had many appearances in the horror films, most of the times as protagonists; and to the girls that played bad girls or the villains.

Anyway, the site is a homage with galleries of pictures and information of actresses that played those characters in films. You will see there pictures of Veronica Lake, Racquel Welch, Caroline Munro, Jane Seymour, Bo Derek, Ursula Andress, Linda Carter, Julie Newmar, Sharon Tate, many others and a gallery with images from the classic Barbarella. An advice: NSFW, because it contains nudity. (via dadanoias)

The Vampire Bat

I didn't see this film, but the title seems good: The Vampire Bat. Vampire film! The film directed by Frank R. Strayer, that made other horror films, has Fay Wray, Melvyn Douglas and Lionel Atwill. It's available for free on Internet Archive and can be downloaded here.

PS.: if you like Fay Wray films try The Fay Wray Pages, a homage site with biography, pictures, lobby cards, posters, audio and filmography.

Don't call me Dracula says Christopher Lee. The actor, who has appeared in more than 220 films, is so well known for horror roles that he once said: "People think that Peter Cushing and I live in a cave together." (via The Mystery of the Haunted Vampire)

Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift

PBS has an excellent gallery of pictures On the Set of The Misfits taken by Magnum photographers, like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ernst Haas, Inge Morath and Eve Arnold. (via Flickhead)

---------------------------------------------------------------

Realmente lindo e tocante: confira.
