Videos with Bibi

Before somebody asks me "Where the heck have you been", let me tell you that I have some good answers. First I will blame carnival and all the laziness and the idea of a short vacation that it gives us. Second, I will blame the hot weather: I can't think in any temperature over 28ºC (82ºF) and in the last few days the hell visited us with 30 and something. Third reason: let me blame a French test that made me study all day on the day before it.

And finally, there is Videos with Bibi. You might guess that blogs don't sprout from nowhere. I had to choose the layout, change templates, test stuff, ask for help, fix some stuff, put other things to work and search for a default entry. Part of the fault for my having created this blog belongs to P-E Fronning. He suggested creating a new blog to show the videos I have been uploading at Google Video since the beginning of last year.

My first reaction was "no, no way". I didn't need more reasons to wast more time on-line. But after reflecting for some days, I finally decided to do it. A lot of people have been posting them, mostly without credit and with no direct links to the videos. And since I was already uploading them, and I have a huge collection on-line, the blog wouldn't be as much work.

I'm not the most normal person I know, and that's why the posts have something more that just the videos embed. Don't expect for reviews, comments or anything like that. I will keep it just like it is now: a summary, the video embed, a link to film at IMDb, to its article at Wikipedia, to where you can buy it and download it (if available), and the names of director, actors and minutes. That's all.

But what is Videos with Bibi? It's a daily blog with videos of films, ephemeral, vintage commercials, animations, cartoons, series and short films public domain, and videos that aren't in public domain, but which can be shared. A second suggestion of P-E Fronning was a long and a short film, and that is more or less how it works. I won't post tons of films, it's just a daily dose of entertainment and I fixed 2 hours as good enough to expend in front of the computer.

You will find a post of 5 or less videos of series or cartoons, a long film and a short film with the subject, or actor or directed by the same person, or some films from the same period, or a film and its trailer. And to try to satisfy everybody almost all the genres (availble) will be posted. Critics, comments and suggestions are welcome. I just have to fix some "obscure" templates, but all the "rest" works.

So, if you are interested in knowing Videos with Bibi, start with the first post: Rashomon (Videos with Bibi). I hope you enjoy and sign the feed

Answering some e-mails and comments: I'm fine. I'm really fine. I'm just busy with other stuff, like reading, scratching the cats, reading books and comics, studying French, adding books to virtual library on my page LibraryThing and aNobii, listening a lot of music and cooking. Maybe I will back later this week, probably on Friday, after the French test.

I'm also very busy with orkut, because I have 10 communities and some are them are very big, I mean really big, one of those with more than 300.000 users. Nowadays orkut became a very attractive place for spammers. I want to kill the damn spammers, however I just can delete the messages, report them as bogus and wait for the new spams - that they post all the time. This is consuming my time and I'm not having fun, not at all. But there is hope in the end of the tunnel with some new features there.

So don't worry, I'm fine, and I didn't give up from blogging. I'm just giving a break - a not planned one - of all this stuff, ok? You don't need to worry anymore, ok? See you!

Dodo

Say hi to my new blog: The Dodo Blog - The influence of dodos in the modern culture, in other words, a blog about dodos. Now I have a repository for the dodo stuff that I found and I've been collected in the last months: illustrations, pictures, books, news, links, animations and other interesting information or images with them. That's it.

Hi, I'm back. Let's start with the good news. Well, the first one is that I'm back, believe or not I'm. The other good news is: I have many new links to post. And, while I wasn't blogging I was uploading videos in Public Domain at Google Video - but now it is a kind of crazy. There are many silent films, early cinema short films, classics of terror, expressionism, commercials, vintage cartoons, early animation films and not so old films, but in public domain too. I'm going to post about them soon.

And now, the bad news. The first and most obvious is the part where I disappeared. Well, personal problems and other things. Second: if you like of any of the videos that I posted at you Tube, including the collection of 60's and 70's French videos, forget it. No didn't get crazy and deleted everything, was more they deleted everything in just one time. And my old account doesn't work anymore. Unfortunately I won't upload them again, but you can find some of those videos at You Tube, Google Video, Daily Motion and other sites.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you about the videos, before someone else ask again. All the suggestion of old videos to upload at Google Video are welcome. Just let me know if I'm the only crazy for old films or not.

And one last thing: if you want to know more about me, take a look at the project of Bogbrush, In The Chair. This week the interview is with me, yes Bibi! A very "Bibi" interview, about blogging, my blogs, cinema and life. It was a very nice interview and I didn't kill anyone, don't worry. Now, go back to the posts, before someone kick me.

PS.: I need to say thanks to a wonderful Canadian reader that sent me two very cool books from my wish list at Amazon - and just in time for my birthday that are going to be next week! One is a very interesting book about semiotics, feminism and cinema - yes, I like this kind of thing too - and the other one is a damn cool book full of images of pulp books and phrases, called "Bad Girls of Pulp Fiction". I love them, thank you! I wanted to know if I can say the name of the reader, can I?

Michelle, from Tiny Bubbles, passed a meme to me a week ago. Before I procrastinate even more, here are my answers.

What were you doing ten years ago?

Hum... let me think... I was studying (fazendo cursinho) to get in a public university (USP - University of São Paulo) for cinema - which didn't happen. I was feeling like the least person in the world, because I hadn't passed the first time, and I didn't that year either. I was thinking that my high school sucked and that I had lost three years for nothing - well, at least I made great friends there. And that year I made my tattoo.

What were you doing one year ago?

The same thing that I'm doing now: blogging! The good news? I now have more readers then I had then, my English is better, I'm learning French and I write reviews to another site, but for free. No big changes... I am still needing a real job.

Five snacks you enjoy?

Difficult question... I think we have a different definition of a snack over here, but someone explained to me what snacks are in the US. So, according to that definition five snacks that I like are: popcorn, chocolate biscuits, Danette (of chocolate), pão de queijo and gominha (= bala de goma = jujuba = similar to the fruit gums of Haribo). Can I put salad as a snack?

Five songs you know all the lyrics to?

Just five? I know many! "Cotidiano" - Chico Buarque; "Yesterday" - Beatles; "I left my own devices" - Pet Shop Boys; "Never Tear us Apart" - INXS; "Faroeste Caboclo" - Legião Urbana.

Five things you would do if you were a millionaire?

First build myself a super powerful computer with a huge LCD and terabytes of space. Buy an apartment, a big apartment near the metro. Make a cinema graduate course in Paris. Travel to many countries (i have a list of places whose museums I would like to visit). Donate on-line: to blogs, organizations that treat animals, sites of artists, and other organizations.

Five things you like doing?

Watching films in the theater. Blogging (or you would think I'm a masochist, since I am not doing this for the money). Eating: at home, at restaurants, at friends' homes... just don't ask me to wash the dishes or cook. Visiting exhibitions of art, photography or history. Buy books: I'm compulsive... or I was... I'm trying to control myself.

Five things you would never wear again?

A tiny bikini (and I think that I just wore one when I was a little girl). A skirt called "balonê". The "boca-de-sino" trousers (those models used in the 70's), but I never used them. Clothes with big dots. Any clothes that makes me look fat or fatter.

Five favorite toys?

My palm, the computer, the plush alligator, the photo camera. I would like to put a LEGO and iPod in the list but I don't have them.

And five blogs to pass this:

Gloomy Sunday, Miguel's Weblog : 3.0, scribblingwoman, Martin Klasch and The Cartoonist. I don't know if they are going to do it or not, and that's why I didn't pass to other blogs, but feel free to decline my invitation.

Good news and bad news. Which do you want first? Ok, then, good news: as you may have noticed, I had a new layout, because the last one wasn't working well with IE, and even though I hate IE with all my strength, most visitors, although probably not most my frequent readers, use that evil browser. So I chose a ready-to-use style and made some changes. Now it's all working (I hope so!) and I finished all the CSS changes I had planned. No more changes for a while, but in the future I will still change the size of my right column, which requires a change in the background image besides a change in the style sheet. I hope you like this new style.

And the bad news is that I don't have connection at home right now, and I post from home. Usually I stay at home all day and I have my life on-line! If I have to write a review I have to be connected to check up stuff, to download the images, to read about it, etc. I need to be connected to talk to people and I need it to blog. In other words: I currently don't have a life, now I'm an undead or a zombi, whatever you chooses. I'm not sure I will survive until I have it back up, in maybe 2 days, but until then please don't leave me, ok? Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.

Zombibi, from someone else's computer and connection. Who has connection has power.

Sorry, post in Portuguese, because all the links are in Portuguese, but, if you like cinema you can try a translator on some of the links.

Confiram.

Ok, I finished my battle with the template for a while and I finished the layout of my new blog about cinema in Portuguese: Cinematógrafo. I have to make more few changes, add some more blogs and links about cinema and that talk about cinema sometimes (suggestions are always welcome). Take a look there.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Visite!

Update: Ok, I have a problem, the blog layout doesn't work with IE. Use Firefox, at least until a fix it tomorrow.

Update: Lesson 1 - don't do things when you didn't sleep on the last 30 hours. I fixed this entry too.

Wiosna

I posted a lot today because I was a "bad blogger" last week and posted just few links. Now it's time to stop and this is my last post of the day. And talking about today, it's my birthday. What a great excuse to stop to post today! So

Happy Birthday to me!!!

or

Feliz Aniversário para mim!!!

If someone wants to know, the "girl" here is 27 today. Yes, I'm getting old. Anyway, see you tomorrow. Have a great day. :)

I'm back! Connection is the power!

- descobri que existe vida off-line, mas prefiro aproveitá-la como opção e não como única alternativa;
- meu Bloglines diz que há 1354 entradas ainda não lidas (não é tão ruim assim, lembrando que wu já estive com esse número em mais de 5000 algumas vezes);
- 6 comentários para aprovar e dois deles sobre o post do Gazzag (vocês querem convite mesmo?);
- adiantei minha leitura do Crime e Castigo e já tenho algumas teorias para um post;
- descobri que o Future do Movable Type agora funciona, porque meu post Friday Cat Blogging foi ao ar;
- ninguém me atacou no OGame (outro vício);
- confirmei minhas suspeitas: estou viciada em bloggar. Em Internet eu já sabia faz tempo.

Surpresas agradáveis:
- os finalistas do Fifth Annual Weblogs Awards só vão ser anunciados hoje mais tarde (assim posso votar e dar opiniões);
- o número de usuários únicos (segundo o medidor, no qual eu não confio muito) disse que eu tive 110 visitantes únicos na sexta-feira - muito obrigada pelas visitas;
- descobri que tenho mais visitas de Portugal que do Brasil - olá para todos d'além mar e muito obrigada pela preferência;

Quem tem conexão tem poder.

January 22, 2005

Bibi has no access to the Internet while her ADSL issues get sorted out. She is mad as hell about that. Thankfully brother-in-law-in-law Raul will come over to lend a hand while the evil, treasonous boyfriend is in Rio de Janeiro pointedly not helping with this issue and probably having lots of fun on the beaches while Bibi is disconnected from the world, under the rain, suffering from the cold and bad mood.

Bad bad boyfriend.

Brincadeira. Brincadeira nada: ficaram. Uma hora e meia 5 pessoas presas no elevador no último dia do ano!

Grande mico!

Emmy Christmas Card

Yesterday I received my first Christmas card from Emmy! The card is more sweet and cute than this image scanned above. Thanks so much for the card dear Emmy. Maybe this will be my only Christmas card this year. Or not?
PS.: the lazy girl here have to post the cards. I will go do this tomorrow and to send as priority.

December 01, 2004

My friend Emmy had some. Now I have to send more coffee to her. And I can add that another friend had some problems with the postman in UK that didn't find him in home and sent my mail back to Brazil!

Ok, now I have more coffee to drink here. My boyfriend had some problems with mail also, because an American on-line book store put in the box description "books and gift" and he had to paid more for the customs. The gift was a magnifying glass (very cheap) and for the one more word on the box description he paid two times what he spent with all the books in it.

Maybe I have to stop to send coffee to distance friends and start to send pepper. What do you think?
