Ferenc Cakó

Animation by Ferenc Cakó to SICAF 2003 Seoul

I was always fascinated by sand animation, so when I saw those Japanese TV commercials with sand animation I had to post about it. The commercials of NTT West are from 2004 but now are available online. The incredible live animation on them was made by Ferenc Cakó. This Hungarian animation film director with some influence of his father, a graphic designer, studied animation and make his first film, Chair, in 1978. In the beginning of the 80's he started his "experiments" with sand animation and still working with this technique.

Sand Animation presents some samples of his films and shows that there are more than the short films, his performances. The videos of live performances of Cakó are incredible amazing, you must see, specially the video of SICAF (Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival) 2003. (via wmmna)
