Birds of the Open Forest

Graduated by the Royal College of Art of London, Su Blackwell

has creates whimsical book-cut sculptures, films and sculptures and installations. Her work involves involve sewing, knotting, folding and cutting.

I use non-art materials such as books and clothes to create work which evokes a sense of dreamy melancholy or magical enchantment. I'm interested in the realm of fairy-tales and folk-legends and have been working on a series of book-works exploring these themes, externalising the pages of the book and allowing it to be read in another way.

Her works is sublime, but it hurts me a bit see the books cut, even for create her book sculptures. Alice in Wonderland's fans can't miss A Mad Tea Party.
