Via a wonderful new blog, What’s New at the Internet Archive - eye candy for me, I discovered the cheerful work of Beatrix Potter. The English children's book author and illustrator grew up in a rich family, but her parents discouraged any intellectual development. Just at the age of 36, in 1902, she published her first book The Tale of Peter Rabbit. That book, as all of her works, have captivating children's stories starred only by animals, with lovely illustrations.

Her life is the subject of a new film called Miss Potter. Th film starred by Renée Zellweger and Ewan McGregor, according to the trailer, transforms her life in a romantic history, combines stories from her own life with animated sequences from her short stories. Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like a catchy film to me, not the kind that I like to watch.

Back to the most interesting part of her life, the books and illustrations. that Archive post points to her the Archive’s Texts collection with many of her illustrated stories which may be browsed, downloaded, or shared. They are from their contributor Project Gutenberg, which has other of her works available. Since the "Flip Book" option provides a better appreciation of them, I kept the books' links at Archive and just pointed to Project Gutenberg when a work wasn't available at the first one.
